WIP 23rd January

My only progress this week has been on the Trade Winds quilt. I'm not so bothered about the binding because I haven't decided what to bind it with yet but I've resolved not to change my walking foot until it is quilted and it just seems to be going on and on...

I'm doing straight line quilting - my favourite for big quilts.

And to be be honest, I could have finished it but I've been continually interrupted by one thing and another and each time I find it harder to get started again. I think some of the reason is that I started quilting this straight after I finished this Red and White quilt last week so I've done no sewing except straight lines up and down, up and down in ages. I think I have straight line over-load!

But this will not become a UFO. Soon I will finish it and then there's about a million new things I want to start!

Do you ever lose momentum and find it hard to keep on with a project to the bitter end?

What have you been working on this week?

  1. Yes, I absolutely know that feeling. I thought the straightline quilting for Canadiana would never end! Gah! Popping in an audio book helped a lot though. It's looking fabulous, Janine and will be worth the tediousness of the quilting.

  2. Yes! I think it has to do with when I reach the point that all creative decisions have been made, and all that is left is hours of follow through stretched out over several {usually many} days. meanwhile, my mind is already thinking of new fabric and pattern possibilities. good luch sticking with it! this lovely quilt will be worth it in the end! :)

  3. I love the colors in your Trade Winds quilt. I know the feeling of losing momentum, but I also know that once I put something aside it can end up being a really long time before I get back to it.

  4. I've been straight line quilting up and down for 2 days (well 2 afternoons) and now I know what farmers feel like when they are ploughing a field. Your quilts look amazing - well done for sticking with it!

  6. Absolutely - I'm pretty sure that's why I have so many half finished projects! Straight line quilting does my head in - although good loud music helps a lot :o) It's looking great!

  8. I also prefer to use straight line quilting when I am working on big quilts, but I am so impressed at how close your lines are! I usually give up and they spread out more and more... Opps. :)

  9. Definitely know the feeling, that's when I go MIA to finish that project. I am going to start working on my very first big quilt as soon as I get my batting and backing. I am going to sew straight lines on it. I am a bit afraid, but your beautiful bed quilts are very encouraging.
